Shrimp Cocktail

Spectacular recipies, from the movie “The Blues Brothers”.
It’s hard to forget the ‘undertaker looking’ duo The Blues Brothers, Jake and Elwood, played respectively by Dan Akroyd and John Belushi. Just free from jail, they have few days to pay taxes in order to save from eviction the orphanage they grew in. For that purpose they decide to rebuild the old blues band to play in a big gig; one night they went to pay a visit and persuade an old friend to join them in this fool adventure. This guy is the director of a classy restaurant, better, It has been before their arrival… Easy to predict, that night every single politeness rule was overridden: the two bros ordered five extremely expensive shrimp cocktails and a dozen bottle of champagne…

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: easy

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 500g hulled shrimps
  • 40g butter
  • 3 tablespoons Limmi lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Tabasco sauce
  • Parsley

Cocktail Sauce

  • 250 g mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon liquid cream
  • Worcestershire sauce

Preparation

Melt the butter in a frying pan then add Limmi lemon juice, salt, Tabasco and your shrimps. Mix them all together and let simmer for five minutes, till the shrimps turn pink. While they’re cooling get ready to prepare the cocktail sauce by combining mayonnaise, ketchup, liquid cream, Worcestershire sauce and drops of Limmi. Dress the lukewarm shrimps with part of the sauce. Serve laying the bottom of 2 small glass bowls with a leaf of lettuce and arrange upon top generous spoonfuls of sauce. Dust with a sprinkle of parsley and garnish with lemon wedges.

A touch of class and flavour

Instead of the classical cocktail glass, serve the shrimps into a halved, ripe and stoned avocado. The avocado flesh together with shrimps and cocktail sauce have a delicious and irresistible taste!
